Remedy for ant invasion in your house
20 Mule Team - Borox
With a dog who loves to drop his food here and there all the time, and kids who love walking around the home eating cookies, and other sugary stuff it is an open invitation to ants in the house. We notices a few here and there, and within no time there was an entire colony living in our house seen at various places including the dining area, doors, kitchen, garage, etc.
At first I went and got an ant killer spray, and sprayed all the ants I could see. It was unsafe for the kids and my dog, so I had to lock them away on the 2nd floor as I sprayed the 1st floor. It worked by killing all the visible ants, but next morning, new ones were seen taking over the responsibility of the ones that were killed on the first day.
I remembered a friend talking about a very simple and effective way to clean up the entire nest using a detergent. So I dug in and found the details. The one detergent that is used here is called 20 Mule Team - Borax. So I hopped on the Amazon and ordered one. Followed the following steps on a Friday and on Sunday, couldn't find a single ant in the house. This is a very effective and inexpensive home remedy for ants.
- Ordered 20 Mule Team Borox from Amazon.com
- Took half cup of 20 Mule Team Borox and mixed it with half cup of powdered sugar.
- Sprinkled small bits of the mixture around the places where ants were common and also along their trail.
- Just wait and let the ants take the sugar and Borox back to the nest.
Very simple process, yet very effective.
